Fortifiber® Advances Moistop E-Z Seal® Flashing with a New Substrate - The Best Gets Better

RENO, NV, July 21, 2006 - Fortifiber Building Systems Group® is announcing the next generation of Moistop E-Z Seal self-adhesive flexible window and door flashing. With its new design, the product now offers even better moisture protection, tear strength and jobsite durability.

The current product, which greatly surpassed industry standards, was fiberglass reinforced and coated on both sides with water-resistant polyethylene. The new design exceeds all industry standards. In addition to being stronger, and more wind-resistant, the product offers better water vapor permeance, moving from less than 0.3 perms to less than 0.1 perms (ASTM E-96). At the same time, water holdout has more than tripled, moving from 48 hours to 150 hours (ASTM D-779).

Raising the Bar
"Fortifiber set the benchmark with its original version of Moistop E-Z Seal as the high performance self-adhesive flashing solution. By employing newer technology materials, we took the premium product on the market and made it even better," said Jim Rossner, Director of Marketing for Fortifiber Building Systems Group. "It was a durable flashing before, but the new substrate makes E-Z Seal a lot tougher -- while retaining all of the qualities that made this a great product in the first place."

While most self-adhesive flashings are sticky all across their width, Moistop E-Z Seal provides an extremely aggressive three-inch self adhesive strip, which completely envelops the window flange to create a rock solid line of defense against water intrusion. The non-adhesive side of Moistop E-Z Seal allows easy integration with the weather-resistive barrier. E-Z Seal's adhesive provides the strongest bond in the industry, instantly adheres to many building materials (including difficult substrates like plywood and OSB), and has self-sealing properties that can even reduce leaks around fasteners that may be driven through the adhesive.

Moistop E-Z Seal provides superb water protection, lays flat to resist cracks and curls, and resists tears from mechanical fasteners, as well as high winds, rain and temperature changes. It is available in pre-cut widths of 4, 6, 9 and 12 inches, to address virtually any vertical wall application, and its backed by the FortiShield® 10-Year Product Warranty.
