Fortifiber® Exceeds Special Drainage Requirements with Introduction of HydroTex™ Hybrid Product
FERNLEY, NV, February 17, 2010 - Two years after pioneering the industry's first paper and plastic hybrid weather-resistive barrier, Fortifiber Building Systems Group® introduces HydroTex™, the next generation weather-resistive barrier specifically designed to meet stringent building code requirements for drainage in exterior wall assemblies.
Like its award-winning predecessor WeatherTex®, HydroTex combines the formidable merits of both asphalt saturated kraft building paper and plastic housewrap in a single layered product. Fortifiber's HydroTex offers an exceptional combination of strength, durability, breathability and moisture protection, with the added benefit of extraordinary drainage performance that tops the toughest code requirements. Specifically, HydroTex outperforms the drainage efficiency requirements of the Oregon R703.1 Residential Specialty Code for weather-resistive barriers by more than 20%.
The Fusion of Two Superior Products
Super JumboTex® 60 Minute building paper is part of the JumboTex line, which has set the benchmark for more than 50 years and helped invent the model for how WRBs should perform in a wall system. Manufactured from a base stock of kraft linerboard, Jumbo Tex is far less brittle than felt, making it less likely to tear during installations around corners and in tight conditions.
HydroTex builds upon JumboTex's stellar performance qualities by adding a layer of polymeric housewrap specifically chosen for it drainage properties.
