ForeSight®: A Commitment to Green Building

Environmentally sustainable products and practices are nothing new to Fortifiber. In fact the ForeSight Green Building Program began in 1996 - a full decade before it was fashionable to be 'green'. The focus of our product line has always been to improve building durability by protecting it from the damage moisture can cause - while increasing the energy efficiency of the building envelope.

Fortifiber's environmental commitment goes beyond our product line to how we do business every day.

• We have strategically located our plants to be no further than 500 miles from 60% of housing starts in the United States. This affords the opportunity to cut carbon emissions from transportation, while speeding our delivery times.
• Our marketing materials have been printed on recycled paper with soy based inks for almost a decade.
• In 2006 alone, we were able to cut power consumption by 50% in our Georgia manufacturing plant, by working with local utility companies to find new ways to conserve energy.
• We have invested heavily in reprocessing equipment which recycles industrial waste plastic from our own plants and the local manufacturing community. This technology makes it possible to manufacture plastic films from 100% recycled materials, instead of virgin petroleum based resins and divert approximately 2 million pounds of polymer waste from landfills.
• In 2007 we were able to cut the carbon footprint of our headquarters building in half by consolidating wasted space, employing programmable thermostats, installing energy star appliances and changing our lighting systems.

Fortifiber is a family owned business that has been in operation for over 68 years. Managed by the second and third generations of the family, with the fourth generation in the wings, we take very seriously our role in minimizing the company's environmental footprint.
